Introduction
This site links to a paper produced by The Department of Trade and Industry in consultation with Government Departments and colleagues in the Scottish Executive, the National Assembly for Wales and the Northern Ireland Executive.
The paper summarises and considers the proposals put forward on 13 June by the European Commission. It invites comments on the likely impact of the proposals on the UK, to enable the Government to take an informed view during negotiations on the Directives.
Why? Why focusing on this revenue stream?
:: This is a growing sector, the quantity of waste electrical and electronic equipment is expected to increase significantly.
:: The potential to increase reuse, recovery and recycling rates.
:: Hazardous materials not currently catered for in electrical and electronic equipment..
